His work has been presented by NPR Tiny Desk, Lincoln Center, Centre Pompidou, and many others. His writing has appeared in publications including McSweeney’s and Lithub. His story and essay collection, “Dragon at the Edge of a Flat World” was published in 2018 and in 2019 he premiered two evening-length performances pieces, including the critically acclaimed Train With No Midnight, and toured the United States as rock group Sleater-Kinney’s national support act. ONE-DAY WORKSHOP

Have you ever experienced the exquisite state of “flow” when you’ve consciously engaged in an activity and glided through it effortlessly with surprising results? The state of finally getting out of your own way to express yourself freely without judgement or boundaries? In this one day workshop I am excited to share some explorations in unleashing your own “flow” in that hidden, golden truth, buried deeply inside you. Through mediation exercises, chakra clearing, line, mark-making, painting, and color we will plunge into the unknown, infinite, complex universe of your unique way of hand – eye – spirit delivery. This is not about creating works of art, this is about the PROCESS of creating. This is not a workshop for artists but for anyone who is curious about raising their inner awareness – their TRUE expression – their universe inside. No previous experience necessary.    Please note!  Advanced registration is required up to two days prior so I can prepare for you!  For registration, please scroll down.

_____________________

Below are all classes that I have offered at some point over the last 20 years. As I try to give equal time to teaching and my own creative endeavors, the classes alternate in and out of the schedule.

CREATIVE EXPRESSION/BREATHWORK – teen to adult

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP

Times to be announced

What is Breathwork? “The source of our daily issues are locked in the unconscious. Rebirthing BREATHWORK, or Conscious Connected Breathing, is a powerful, safe, and gentle way to bring them to surface awareness for health and clearing. Developed in the early 70’s it has been practiced by many thousands of people throughout the world. //Rebirthing BREATHWORK is a process that supports individuals in upgrading the quality of their thinking. This stress-relieving breathing includes the ability to experience greater inner peace as well as feeling connected to, and caring for all of humanity. It is a profound tool that resonates at such a deep level that blame becomes obsolete, forgiveness becomes natural, and taking responsibility for one’s life becomes the option. “(The Rebirthing Center, Philadelphia & NY) No previous experience necessary.  Please note!  Advanced registration is required up to two days prior so I can prepare for you!  For registration, please scroll down.

PERCEPTIONS IN CREATING – teen to adult

Times to be announced

This class is designed to broaden and challenge your approach in creating. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck or too familiar with your approach in creating art and your expression has become stunted and predictable. Or maybe you have never taken an art class and are simply curious! Through many different approaches and materials we will embark on creative journeys aimed to expand your perception and possibly surprise your self!  This is for all levels, no previous experience necessary, all materials provided. For registration, please scroll down.

PAINT SWEAT WEEKEND WORKSHOP – teen to adult

This workshop will include Breathwork and Dance as well!  Stay tuned!

This workshop will be for a focused group of people that really want to take the luxury of time to work and explore their inner emotional landscape through paint. This is not a workshop specifically for artists but for anyone that’s curious about unleashing shadows that grip and block you from finding your authentic flow state. We will begin with a few brief warm-up exercises then launch into seeking the mystery of you through color, line, texture, shape…expression! There is a pre-requisite of completing one Creative Expression Workshop.

Please bring lunch and water. Wear clothes that are comfortable and that you don’t mind getting messy. In order to maintain focus, participants are encouraged to NOT leave the studio until we are finished for the day. For registration, please scroll down.

Please note: This type of painting takes time and patience in order to relax into your flow. Therefore two days are encouraged in order to get the most out of the process of unravelling.

IGNITE IMAGINATION ART CLASS – children 5 – 8 years

Times to be announced

I believe we are all artists. Depending on your childhood experience, creative expression has funneled its way into who you are today. It is our unique way of showing up in the world. The freer we are to be authentic to ourselves and the world, the better life becomes.

In this class children will be encouraged to follow hunches, ideas, feed curiosity, ask questions and seek answers to explore the infinite depths of their expression. This class will be about the process of making art more than the end product. It’s not about getting it right, but for children to explore who they are.

ABSTRACT PAINTING CLASS – teen to adult

Times to be announced

What is abstract painting? How do we learn to really see abstract art and appreciate its qualities? In this class we will be focusing on creating works of art through line, shape, contrast, texture, composition and eventually color and value. We will explore and learn about the complexity of relationships in composition and what makes a painting dynamic. We will also be exploring how to find our unique creative expression through exercises designed to refrain from the analytical mind and find freedom and joy in the process of creating. No previous experience necessary. For registration, please scroll down. Materials listed below.

LIFE DRAWING, 7:00 – 9pm – teen to adult

Times to be announced

Join other area artist to sketch, paint, sculpt from a live model. This is not a class where you will be instructed, but an evening to take time out for yourself to relax and create. Please bring whatever materials you prefer to work with; snacks and drinks are welcome as well. There are a few easels and chairs to sit down – first come, first serve – also plenty of floor space! Register below or pay at the door.

Teen Art Class

Times to be announced ~    In this class we will be exploring and learning different ways of seeing and creating. Through the study of various artists, students will be exposed to different perspectives in order to ignite their own creativity. No previous experience necessary. Materials list below.

ArtEmotionImpact (teen to adult)

Times to be announced ~   Artistic creation is a potentially rich form of expression, exploring deep passions, discomforts, and curiosities. This class will empower students to turn their concerns about what matters to them most into art with an impact. Each student will work from subject matter that moves them personally–be it highly personal, political, or somewhere in between — to express their heart in its most true form. The environment, sexuality, the beauty of a garden or well-being of a pet–the list is endless and there is no right or wrong subject. No experience necessary. Creations may be beautiful, disturbing, contemplative, or mysterious.

Private Lessons (all ages)  ~ I am happy to work one-on-one to specifically tailor a class just for you! Please contact me to discuss.

There are MANY options for buying art supplies out there and it can feel overwhelming. The cost can be anywhere from $35 and up. You should not feel inhibited by the amount of materials needed, many artists paint with 3 tubes of paint and one or two brushes on “found” surfaces. I’m open to saving money and using what you have! If using acrylics or water-based oils follow the suggestions eliminating the turpenoid and brush cleaner tank.
