NEW HOPE, PA — More than 160 juried fine artists and craftspeople will be in New Hope over the weekend for the 29th Annual New Hope Arts and Crafts Festival presented by the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce.

The event unfolds on Saturday, September 23, and Sunday, September 24, at the New Hope-Solebury High School, 180 W. Bridge Street, in New Hope.

Featured artists and craftspeople will exhibit using media such as oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, sculpture, fine and fun jewelry, ceramics, works in wood, fiber, furniture, wearable art, glass art, photography, outsider art, and more.

Festivities will also include live music all weekend long, food trucks, kids activities, hands-on demonstrations, and more. The Festival takes place at the New Hope–Solebury High School parking lot, just a few minutes walk from the center of the business district, and there is a free bus to from the Festival parking to South Main Street at the Bucks County Playhouse. Admission is a $5 donation. Hours are Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm.

“New Hope Arts and Crafts Festival has everything from those killer oil paintings you’d want in your living room to that handcrafted jewelry piece that’s just so you and more,” said Chamber President Michael Sklar. “And it’s not just about the art you take home; it’s the stories behind them, the hands that crafted them, and the friends you make here. It is one of our largest events of the year and an annual beloved New Hope and Bucks County tradition. We hope to see you there.”

He added, “For nearly three decades, the New Hope Arts and Crafts Festival has been more than an event; it’s a tradition. A tradition of celebrating local artists, of fostering community spirit, and of creating memories. Every year, thousands converge here, not just to buy art, but to be part of a story, a legacy.”

Nestled in the heart of historic New Hope, the 29th annual Arts and Crafts Festival is set to dazzle and inspire. The event, renowned for its rich legacy, is not just a festival but a testament to the enduring spirit of creativity and community that New Hope embodies.

Event Highlights:

SWEAT BY LYNN NOTTAGE

SWEAT BY LYNN NOTTAGE

August 25, 26, 27, September 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16

G. Anthony Williams of the People’s Store is delighted to make his Langhorn Players debut in this powerful and timely production. Anthony studied acting in New York City with several notable groups, was the associate producer of the Williamsburg International Film Festival, and has acted in many known performances. He is also a published writer with line credits in Access Hollywood, Brooklyn Reader & Uptown magazine, and a Graduate of City University of New York-Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Anthony plays the character of Evan in this brilliant performance.

Lynn Nottage’s timely winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize tells the story of a friend group, a town, and a nation all at once. Set at a bar in Reading, Pennsylvania, Sweat follows a cadre of blue-collar friends and co-workers from all walks of life as their livelihoods are threatened by layoffs and picket lines, pitting them against each other.

Sweat is a “keenly observed and often surprisingly funny…but ultimately heartbreaking” (New York Times) tale of the fight to stay afloat while the water level in the world around you quickly rises.

Langhorne Players is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer community theater that produces thought-provoking plays meant to engender after-theater conversation.

INTEGRATION TIME

After the retreat, it is important to allow yourself time to absorb, integrate, and digest your experience. For this reason, we encourage you to build in some time after the retreat to simply let down.
