Vintage Painted Tavern Bench from Europe

Bench Me!

This antique tavern bench is a must for any kitchen, dinning room, entryway, study or upstairs hall. It’s painted in a marvelous mustard color, with sturdy through-tenon construction. The turned spindle back and plank seat are loaded with character and warmth.

This magnificent piece is located on our main level in Tom Conrad’s showroom. Here you will also find old farm tables, textiles, modern chairs and accessories.

Tom’s European Buying Tours

Tom is also the owner of Heart of Europe Tours, which arranges antique buying tours through Germany and the Czech Republic. On this adventurous trip, participants explore roads less traveled in Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Prague, and throughout Belgium and Germany. You will shop in country villages, outdoor markets, antique shops, hard-to-find warehouses, and old textile mills, bursting with Eastern European inventory that hasn’t been available to American buyers since before the cold war.

If you go, plan on some overnights at castles and monasteries, and dining on flavorful local provisions. This area of the world was a hub for designers and architects in the Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Modern movements, so you should expect to find an abundance of these items and more! Call Jim Castelli at the store and we’ll put you in touch with Tom for the next tour.
