Pennsylvania Tall Case Clock
Made by: Weiss Jedediah (1796-1873)
Silversmith and clockmaker.
Circa 1810-1830, 8 day time and strike movement. Federal cherry cased w/broken arch above Moon Phase Dial, Fan Carved Door, Turned Feet, Signed Jedediha Weifs (Weiss) of Bethlehem, PA. Provenance; CHAS H CUMMINGS, Bethlehem Railroad Executive, purchase includes 17 mid-1800’s photographs of Mr. Cummings summer estate.
Recently cleaned and serviced. Two year labor warranty. Includes local delivery and set up. Height 8’9″ with finial.
Weiss was apprenticed to J.S.Krause. John Mathew Micksch. Charles Fredrick Beckel were also working in Krause’s shop while Weiss was apprenticed there. In 1820 Weiss set up his own shop in Bethlehem PA. Weiss retired in 1865
