Gerhardt Movcks – 1910 For Schwarzburger Werkstatten.
This figurine of an eagle offers amazing quality and detail and is a hard to find piece which is on display on the 2nd floor of the People’s Store.
The Schwarzburger Werkstätten, founded in 1908, was the Unterweissbach porcelain factory, later called the Schwarzburg Workshops for Artistic Porcelain. They are most well know for their figurines, attracting the best artists of the time like Ernst Barlach, Otto Pilz, and Paul Scheurich, to name a few.
After WWII it was renamed Unterweissbacher Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst, and is still operating, now under the name Schwarzburger Porzellan.
