One of the most desirable portraits of Lincoln, engraved by Henry Gugler. The portrait was engraved after a drawing by John H. Littlefield. Littlefield worked on Lincoln’s campaign and later took a job with the treasury department. Littlefield is said to have based his drawing on the famous Brady photo. Gugler, who worked engraving currency for the National Notary Bureau, produced this striking image. This is one of the largest 19th century depictions of Lincoln and the hardest to find.
